50 years after the war with The Black...
The world is in shambles. The Empire struggles to maintain control amidst death and chaos. The Royal Armies, decimated by years of fending off the roaming undead, still struggle to rebuild. Without strong presence of the Royal military, warlords and bandits have carved out their own niches. Bit by bloody bit, the Empire is losing ground. A harsh feudal system has gained popularity, as mercenaries and ragtag platoons battle it out. The hordes of undead still roaming around add another deadly edge to the game of power. Disease and famine still run rampant through the land, claiming the young and infirm. And should one die too close to a ravaged area, they might be raised, and join the undead ranks… All along the Unclaimed lands, Tide marauders thrive, scavenging anything they can to survive. But even on the darkest of days, rays of hope shine through. Free companies, led by the few remaining heroes in the land, have risen up to protect the downtrodden. The Riders of Rey’leiar, the Glass Arrows, the Daughters of the Blind Queen, Thurallin’avaas, the Order of the Stone Rose, and many other, less prominent groups patrol the lands.
The story starts in the town of Last Stand, a port town under Throne rule. The game will start with the PC’s as minors, on the cusp of manhood (or womanhood, as the case may be.)
